Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata)

Brief Description

Garlic Mustard is an invasive biennial herb belonging to the mustard family. In its first year, it forms a rosette of kidney-shaped leaves. In the second year, it produces a flowering stem with heart-shaped, toothed leaves like those shown in the image, and small white flowers. The plant is recognizable by its garlicky odor when crushed, and in this image, it appears to be in its second year with developing seed pods (looking like small, green, clustered buds).
