Characteristics
Males have brilliant metallic blue or green bodies and broad, dark brown-black bands across their wings. Females are entirely metallic green with translucent brownish wings and a false pterostigma (white spot near the wing tip).
Habitat
Found near slow-flowing freshwater habitats such as lowland rivers, streams, and sometimes canals with abundant aquatic vegetation.
When to Find It
Active mainly during the summer months, from May to September, peaking in June and July on warm, sunny days.
